AIR FORCE HIGHLIGHTS

All-Mountain West, Indoor 800-Meter Run (2024)

SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2024-25: Competed in four meets, before missing the remainder of the season with injury…clocked the third-fastest 800-meter time in Air Force history during a runner-up finish at the Jarvis Scott Open…that 2:07.63 (adjusted for altitude) time also broke the program’s Sophomore Class Record…won the Colorado Classic with a time of 2:09.73a…opened season with a 5:00.98 mile at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Opener…academic all-conference.

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2023-24: Received the program’s Newcomer of the Year award…all-conference honoree…member of two Air Force record-setting relays…broke the Academy’s Freshman Class Record in the 800-meter run four times…clocked an indoor-best time of 2:08.37 (adjusted for altitude) to finish third at the Mountain West Indoor Championships and become the program’s first all-MW runner in that event since 2014…that is the third-fastest indoor time in Air Force history…reset the program’s No. 3 indoor mark in three-straight races – 2:09.20 at the Windy City Invitational, 2:08.66a in the MW prelims, 2:08.37a in the MW finals…finished first out of 34 runners at the UNM Team Open…also picked up runner-up finishes at the Potts Invitational (30 runners) and MW prelim (25 runners)…recorded the fifth-fastest 800-meter time in Air Force Outdoor history during a 2:07.56 performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational…scored for Falcons in that event at the MW Outdoor Championships (2:08.59, eighth)…led off the 4x800-meter relay that posted a program-record time of 8:54.51 at the Drake Relays…also ran on the 4x400-meter relay that clocked an Air Force Record time of 3:41.09 at that meet…picked up a first-place finish in the 600-meter run (1:35.39) during collegiate debut at the Air Force Holiday Open…academic all-conference.

HIGH SCHOOL: South Lyon East High School…claimed Michigan D1 all-state honors in the 800-meter run (third-place finish in 2023) and pole vault (fifth-place finish in 2021)…two-time conference champion as a senior (800-meter run, 1600-meter run)…four-year varsity letterwinner in both track and cross country…named the 2022-23 South Lyon East Athletics’ Female Athlete of the Year…holds school records in the 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, 1600-meter run, high jump and pole vault, as well as the cross country 5K…ran on the 4x800-meter relay that posted a school record…graduated with a 4.1 GPA…earned academic honors every year…named to the Principal’s List all four years.

PERSONAL: Full name is Liliane Laura Aittama…nickname is Lili…daughter of John and Erica Aittama…father served in the Army…mother was a member of the track and cross country teams at Western Michigan University…has one older sister…majoring in geospatial science…future plans include becoming a pilot or intelligence officer…named to the Dean’s List and Athletic Director’s List…serving as the Standardization and Evaluation NCOIC…earned Jump Wings in the summer of 2024…began running in first grade with Girls on the Run…hobbies include boardercross and snowboarding…traveled to Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., over the summer for Operation Air Force…also served as cadre for the obstacle course during Basic Cadet Training…member of Cadet Squadron 22.
