SOPHOMORE (2008): Competed in the 800-meter run during the outdoor season...recorded a season-best time of 1:54.54 (adjusted for altitude) at the Front Range Invitational...participated in the 800-meter and mile distances during the indoor season...clocked a season-best time of 2:00.77a at the Air Force Open...clocked 4:46.57a in the mile at the Air Force Invitational.
FRESHMAN (2007): Competed in the 800-meter and 1500-meter races during the outdoor season...clocked a season-best time of 1:58.39a in the 800-meter run during the Air Force Twilight Meet...recorded a season-best 1500-meter time of 4:10.81a at the Wyoming Invitational...did not compete during the indoor season.
BEFORE USAFA: Transferred from RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute)...competed on the cross country team...earned All-Liberty League honors...was the top RPI finisher at the Albany and Saratoga Invitationals...named Liberty League Rookie of the Week on Oct. 17.
HIGH SCHOOL: Member of the 2005 High School All-America Track and Field team...selected as a Suburban Council all-star...served as captain of the cross country team, as well as the indoor and outdoor track team...named all-Suburban Council...Rookie of the Year in 2003 and team MVP in 2004.
PERSONAL: Son of John and Joann Murphy...has a twin brother, Kevin...majoring in systems engineering management-human systems...future plans include becoming a pilot...served as Squadron Athletic NCO and Element Leader for Basic Cadet Training...hobbies include hiking, biking, skiing and flying...member of Cadet Squadron 13.
