Air Force Trio Opens Action at Bryan Clay Multis

AZUSA, Calif. – Highlighted by the eighth-fastest hurdles time in program history, sophomore Sarah Reynolds led a trio of Air Force athletes on the opening day of heptathlon action at the Bryan Clay Multis in Azusa, California. Reynolds and classmate Morgan Glaser combined for three Air Force Top 25 performances during Thursday's competition.
Reynolds had a stellar Thursday in Azusa, improving her previous Day 1 best by nearly 250 points and accounting for the highest opening-day score ever by a Falcon, with 3114 points. The sophomore, who is second in her section after four events, moved up to No. 8 on the Academy's all-time standings in the 100-meter hurdles after opening the day with a 903-point time of 14.54. She also recorded a monster PR of 11.24 meters (36'10½") for 611 points in the shot put, while adding 689 points in the high jump (1.56m/5'1¼") and closing out the day with a wind-aided time o 24.74 (911 points) in the 200-meter dash.
Glaser, who finished Thursday in 12th with 2995 points, book-ended the opening day of her first collegiate heptathlon with a pair of Air Force Top 25 performances. The sophomore posted a career-best time of 14.77 in the 100-meter hurdles – the 13th-fastest time in program history and a finish worth 872 points, before running a 25.69 debut in the 200-meter dash to accumulate 824 points and enter the Air Force Record Book at No. 20. In between, Glaser recorded an 867-point leap of 1.71 meters (5'7 ¼") in the high jump and made her debut in the shot put for 432 points (8.50m/27'10¾").
Junior Kayla Beach, who is also competing in the heptathlon, finished the first day ranked 14th in her section, with 2754 points. The junior opened the day with an 846-point outing in the 100-meter hurdles (14.95), before tallying 689 points in the high jump (1.56m/5'1¼"), 462 points in the shot put (8.95m/29'4¾"), and 755 points in the 200-meter dash (26.45).
The trio returns to Cougar Stadium tomorrow (April 10) afternoon for the final three events of the heptathlon. Reynolds will kick off the day at 12:00 pm (PT), while Beach's start will follow at 1:00 p.m., and Glaser is scheduled to start one hour after that. In addition to the three Falcons in Azusa, Texas Tanner will represent Air Force at the Oklahoma Throws Series' World Invitational tomorrow (a full recap of Tanner's week at Throw Town Ramona will be posted after his final competition on Sunday).
