Sophomore | 2021-22: Posted a personal season-best 23.79 in the 50 free for the third-quickest time in the event ... recorded a personal season-best 52.27 in the 100 free ... her 26.22 in the 50 fly is the fifth-quickest time on the team ... 57.36 in the 100 fly.
Freshman | 2020-21: Swam a 23.94 in the 50 freestyle for the third-quickest time on the team ... posted a season best 53.15 in the 100 free ... recorded a 26.82 in the 50 butterfly for the third fastest time on the team ... swam to a 57.16 in the 100 fly for the fifth-fastest time on the squad.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Was a four-year letterwinner at Clovis North High School under Head Coach Peter Fecht as a Bronco…Named Clovis North’s Freshman Swimmer of the Year in 2017 and the Swimming MVP in 2019…Set school records in the 100 fly and 50 free…Named all-league and all-valley three times…Was a CIF Swimming State qualifier as an individual three times, and as part of a relay twice…Earned the Academic Scholar of Distinction award and was a California Scholarship Federation member…Also named a Scholar-Athlete twice…Swam club for the Clovis Swim Club from 2015-20.
PERSONAL: Member of cadet squadron 10…Daughter of Mari and Matthew Costella…has one brother, Evan, and one sister, Erin…Undecided on a major…Lists her greatest moment in sports as when her high school team beat her rival for the first time in program history in their only meet of the 2020 senior swim season…Hobbies include hiking, yoga, watching Jeopardy, and spending time with friends and family…Chose the Academy because “It allows me to be able to be a part of something bigger than myself and serve this great country while continuing to do what I love (swimming!) and getting a world class education. In addition, the opportunities and experiences that the academy offers are second to none, and will help me to become a better person and leader. The cultures of both the swim team and the Academy are something that I knew I wanted to be a part of, and I am so incredibly thankful for my opportunity to be here!”
