Women's Swim and Dive Picks Up Pair of Mountain West Victories over Colorado State and New Mexico

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo., - Air Force women's swim and dive showcased dominant performances over Mountain West competitors Colorado State (179-121) and New Mexico (254-41) during a tri-meet at Cadet Natatorium on Saturday January 10.
"Our team rose to the challenge this weekend and came away with some amazing wins", expressed head coach Colleen Murphy. "This is a special group, they are gritty and determined; they don't back down to any team and they believe in each other."
The ladies on the 200 medley relay "A" team, Kai-Min Tsuei, Naomi Furman, Amber Martin, and Lily Larson, opened the meet with a win after clocking a combined time of 1:43.46 in the first event.
Chloe Perkins completed the 3-meter springboard in first, scoring 295.55. Freshman Lulu Semakula came in second with a score of 282.80, while Lexton Gregory placed third at 268.55.
Distance swimmers Katie Andrist (10:46.39) and Abby Miller (10:48.04) went for first and second in the 1000 free.
Sophomore Larson touched the wall at 1:52.38 to beat her CSU counterpart for the top spot in the 200 free. Brynn Bond (1:53.56) and Sadie Hartig (1:54.50) took third and fourth, respectively.
In the 100 free, Larson also claimed first after swimming a 51.84. Murphy stated, "Lily Larson won two very close races, she has an amazing way of putting her head down and getting the touch."
With a time of 1:03.62, Furman earned gold in the 100 breast, while teammate Mandy Fleetwood (1:05.17) followed as the runner-up.
Furman also completed the 200 breast at 2:22.21 to claim her second first place finish of the day. Maeve Linscott (2:23.05) and Fleetwood (2:23.45) rounded out the podium placements.
The 200 fly saw a trio of Falcons take the top three placements. Jena Nowoswiat finished first with a time of 2:08.96 and was trailed by Natalie Doig (2:09.30) and Abigail Hardy (2:09.60)
In the 100 back, Tsuei (57.20) and Elizabeth Sistrunk (57.35) earned second and third to represent Air Force on the podium.
C4Cs Sistrunk (2:04.16) and Hartig (2;05.20) held down the 200 back and went for second and third.
Hannah Seal (5:16.14) earned a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle and was backed by her teammates Bond (5:17.92), Andrist (5:20.74), and Miller (5:22.40).
On the diving side, Kacey Hu placed second on the 1-meter springboard, scoring 270.35, while Lulu Semakula followed close behind in third (270.00), both earning NCAA Zone cuts.
Flyers Mills (57.99) and Doig (58.00) took second and third in the 100 fly.
Lily Bachl finished highest for the Falcons at 24.01 for third in the 50 free, with Ryan Mills in fourth (24.17).
To close the competition, the 400 free relay team comprised of Mills, Bachl, Seal, and Larson went for gold with a time of 3:28.01.
Murphy said, "This was a total team effort for the win."
The Falcons will be back in action on Friday January 16 at Seattle University.
