Falcons Soccer Lose to Spartans, 3-0

SAN JOSE (Oct. 1) - Dan Fife, Isaias Bardales and Lars Lyssand each scored a goal in San Jose State University's 3-0 victory over the Air Force Academy Sunday (Oct. 1) in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Mountain Division game at Spartan Stadium.
Air Force now stands at 2-3-2 overall, 0-1 in conference. The nationally-ranked Spartans improved to 8-0-1 overall, 2-0 in conference games.
Fife scored on a penalty kick at the 20:47 mark, after Air Force goalkeeper Mike Brophy was issued a red card. The goal was the second of the year for Fife.
Bardales made it 2-0 early in the second half on an assist from Frank Sanfilippo. It was Bardales' third goal of the season and the third assist of the year for Sanfilippo. Lyssand added an insurance goal at the 65:38 mark on an assist from Jorge Martinez.
Chris Humphreys and Jason Horner recorded the combined shutout in goal for the Spartans. Humphreys, who now has seven combined shutouts, moved into a third place tie for single-season shutouts. For the Falcons, it was their second consecutive game in which their offense was unable to score. They were held to just six shots in the game.
The Falcons will look to ignite its offense with two home games this weekend. They face Fresno State Friday, Oct. 6, at 3 p.m., followed by Sacramento State Sunday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m.
