Air Force Volleyball Loses to UNLV, 3-0

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV volleyball team snapped a six-game losing streak with a 3-0 (30-23, 30-9, 30-19) victory over Air Force on Thursday night at the Cox Pavilion.
The Falcons fall to 1-14 overall, 0-8 in MWC play. UNLV moves to 6-9 on the season, 3-5 in the Mountain West Conference.
After a back-and-forth battle in game one, the Falcons suffered their worst loss of the season in game two, falling by 21 points. They went on to lost game three by a 19-30 final.
Air Force was led by Tiffany Bishop and Brittany Edmonds, who finished the match with seven and six kills respectively.
Leiana Oswald led UNLV offensively with 12 kills. She also added seven digs and two blocks.
Patricia Assuncao was a force on both sides of the net for the Rebels, finishing with nine kills and seven digs. She served 15 straight points in game two, including five aces. Assuncao finished the match with a career-high eight service aces, a total which ties the UNLV single-match record.
Sheila Ocasio-Clemente, who leads the nation in blocks per game, knocked down ten assisted blocks and eight kills on the night. She finished with a match-high .500 attack percentage (8-1-14).
Air Force looks to snap its 12-match losing streak on Saturday, Oct. 20, when they face San Diego State at Cox Arena.
