Volleyball Team Set to Start Season

The Air Force volleyball team opens its season this weekend in Orlando, Fla., as the team will compete in the Central Florida Tournament. The two-day tournament features four teams: Air Force, Florida International, Appalachian State and host school Central Florida. The Falcons defeated Central Florida 2-0 in 1983 in their only meeting. Air Force has never played Appalachian State and split its two matches against Florida International (1983, W -- 2-1, 1986, L -- 2-3).
It will be the first time in five years the Falcons open on the road. For the previous four years, the Falcons have hosted the Air Force Invitational to open the season.
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
Friday, Aug. 31
Florida International vs. Air Force Academy -- 5 p.m. EST
Central Florida vs. Appalachian State -- 7 p.m EST
Saturday, Sept. 1
AFA vs. App. State -- 10 a.m.
Central Florida vs. FIU -- noon
FIU vs. App. State -- 5 p.m.
Central Florida vs. AFA -- 7 p.m.
