Falcons Notch Victory Over Fairfield, 8-5

USAF, Colo. - (April 7) Six different Falcons would score goals, as the Air Force lacrosse team defeated Fairfield University, 8-5, to win its first Great Western Lacrosse League game of the season.
"We played great defense," head coach Fred Acee said. "Our goalie (William Arnold) did an outstanding job and our man-down defense was superb."
Arnold notched 14 saves, while the Falcons held Fairfield scoreless on seven extra-man opportunities.
The Falcons took the early lead win Falcon attackman Nathan Koss scored off a pass from Greg Dangler. It was the only score of the first quarter. Fairfield would take a 2-1 lead off goals by Shaun Graham and Troy Bamann, but Bill Keleher would tie the score at two apiece with less than a minute remaining in the half.
After exchanging goals in the third quarter, the Falcons took its largest lead of the game in the fourth quarter. Nathan Mariner and Matthew Dudderar would notch goals to give the Falcons the 6-4 lead. Troy Bamann would score his second goal of the game to pull the Stags to within one goal of the lead, but Kevin Hill would counter with a goal and Keleher would add an insurance goal to give Air Force the victory.
Koss and Keleher each notched two goals in the game, while Dangler had four assists. C.J. Kemp would save 10 shots on goal for Fairfield, while Troy Bamann was the Stags leading scorer with two goals and an assist.
The Falcons improve to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in GWLL action. Fairfield falls to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The Falcons will have 12 days rest before resuming play on the road against league foe Butler on Friday, April 19 (4 p.m.). Their road trip continues on April 21 against Ohio State.
