Falcons Defeat Sacramento State, 5-2

The Air Force men's tennis team defeated Sacramento State, 5-2, Saturday morning in the Cadet Gymnasium's Indoor Tennis Courts. Air Force won the doubles point and lost singles matches at the no. 3 and no. 5 singles spots.
Freshman Shannon Buck defeated Sacramento State's Matt Jones, 6-2, 6-2, at no. 1 singles. Senior Eric Pittman won at the no. 2 singles spot against junior Nick Sheehan for the Hornets, winning 6-1, 6-4. Freshman Tyler McClung lost at no.3 singles, 7-6, 6-2, to Sacramento State's Julien Chatelan. At no. 4 singles, Air Force freshman Martin Black defeated Lewis Van Spunteren, 6-3, 6-2 and sophomore Chris Dong won at the no. 6 singles spot, 6-3, 6-3, over Sacramento State's Jakub Sliva. Senior Tyler West lost at no. 5 singles to freshman Anders Albertsen, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles action, Pittman and McClung defeated Chatelan and Sliva, 8-5, and the team of junior Justin Mancinelli and Buck defeated Sacramento State's Jones and sophomore Peter Farkas, 8-6. Air Force's Dong and Black lost to Sheehan and Albertsen, 8-5.
The Falcons improved to 8-1 this season after this morning's victory over the Hornets. Air Force returns to action Saturday, March 1, when the Falcons host Creighton in the Cadet Gymnasium's Indoor Tennis Courts.
