LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Air Force women's soccer team was dealt a losing hand in a 3-0 loss at UNLV in Mountain West Conference action at Peter Johann Memorial Field Sunday afternoon. The Falcons conclude the 2004 regular season with a 3-12-2 overall record and 0-5-1 mark in conference play.
Air Force stuggled to get its offense going as the Rebels held the Falcons to just one shot in the entire match. Despite the match being scoreless at the half, UNLV (11-3-2, 4-1-0 MWC) exploded for three second-half goals for the win.
Katie Carnie scored the first goal of the match in the 57th minute with Angie Inzana assisting. Anii Magliulo scored the second goal in the 82nd minute with Inzana and Jessica Destito assisting. The Rebels capped off the scoring with Carney recording her second goal of the match with an unassisted goal in the 87th minute.
Freshman Jennifer Drew had four saves at goal for the Falcons, allowing all three goals in 87:32 of work. Freshman Sarah Keidel, a Las Vegas native, made her debut for the Falcons in relief of Drew, recording a save in 2:28 of action.
Air Force returns to action at the 2004 MWC Soccer Championships in Provo, Utah, which runs from Nov. 3-6. The tournament field will be announced Monday, Nov. 1, by the conference office (www.theMWC.com).
