Falcons Fall 3-2 To UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside (10-0-1) remains undefeated as the Highlanders hung on to down Air Force, 3-2, in non-conference women's soccer action at the UCR Soccer Stadium. The Falcons conclude the non-conference portion of their season with a 3-7-1 mark.
UC Riverside got on the scoreboard first, as Amber Plumlee scored two minutes into the match to make it a 1-0 game. The Falcons tied the game up just minutes later, at the six minute mark, as Meredith Benson scored on a header off of Raegan McDowell's corner kick.
The early scoring did not stop as UCR struck for two more goals just minutes later to take a commanding 3-1 lead. Renee Scachetti scored a pair of goals for the Highlanders, notching her first score at the 10:31 mark and then scoring her second goal at 14:43.
The scoring subsisted for the next 50 minutes of play until Air Force struck for their second score of the game to make it 3-2 in favor of UCR. Erin Fitzpatrick scored her first-career goal with Brittney Perkowski and Elaine Tatarek assisting.
The Falcons had a couple more late opportunities to tie the game up, but could not finish off on several attacks.
Jennifer Drew had four saves in the loss.
The Falcons return to action Friday, Oct. 8, playing at home for the first time in seven matches when they take on Wyoming at 7 p.m. in both teams' Mountain West Conference openers.
