Andersen and Stine Head To NCAA Championships

Two members of the Air Force men's gymnastics team will compete at the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championship in Champaign, Ill., on Friday, April 2. Sophomore Greg Stine (Houston, Texas) and senior Jeff Andersen (Marietta, Ga.) will represent the Academy in the all-around competition.
With a national qualifying score of 52.995, Stine has the highest all-around score of the six multi-event competitors. Andersen, a finalist for the 2004 Nissen-Emery Award, is in the No. 3 position with a NQS of 52.230. They will be joined by two gymnasts from William and Mary, as well as one from Southern Connecticut State and one from Navy.
The national qualifying competition is divided up into two sessions. The top three teams from each session will advance to the finals, as well as the top three all-around competitors that are not on an advancing team and the top three individual event specialists that are not on an advancing team or moving on in the all-around.
Stine and Andersen will compete at 1 p.m., on Friday, April 2. Both sessions of the national qualifiers will be held at Assembly Hall in Champaign, Ill. The finals will also be held on the campus of the University of Illinois on April 3-4.
