Greg Stine Wins USAG Pommel Horse Title

DENTON, Texas - Just one day after winning the USAG all-around championship, Air Force sophomore Greg Stine (Houston, Texas) earned USAG title honors on the pommel horse at the event finals of the 2004 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships in Denton, Texas. Stine posted a score of 8.550 to win the event and his second championship in as many days.
He was one of three Falcons who competed in the event finals on Saturday, April 10. Stine, along with senior Jeff Andersen (Marietta, Ga.) and junior Kent Reichle (Cambridge, Minn.), were named USAG All-Americans, following top finishes in their respective events.
Stine led the contingent with appearances in five of the six events. Along with his first-place honor on the pommel horse, Stine tied with Andersen for second on the still rings with a score of 9.450. He garnered a pair of third-place honors tallying a 9.300 on the vault and an 8.700 on the high bar. Stine rounded out the evening with a seventh-place on the floor with an 8.425.
Andersen competed in three events and garnered second-place honors on two. Aside from tying with Stine for second-place (9.450) honors on the still rings, Andersen also recorded runner-up accolades on the parallel bars with an 8.700. Andersen earned his 12th career USAG All-America nod on the high bar, finishing seventh with a score of 8.400.
Reichle was earned USAG All-America honors on the floor exercise following a sixth-place performance of 8.475.
