Caleb Pelger Places 22nd at Cal Invitational Decathlon

Air Force junior Caleb Pelger (Peabody, Mass.) placed 22nd at the California Invitational Decathlon in Azusa, Calif., with a total score of 6,125 points. It was the ninth-best finish by a collegiate athlete.
Contributing to Pelger's point-total were times of 11.17 in the 100-meter dash, 55.81 in the 400-meter dash, 16.65 in the 110-meter hurdles and 4:46.78 in the 1500-meter run. His time in the 100-meter dash, was a season-best and ranks him third on the team in that event.
He also completed six field events and posted marks of 21'5?" in the long jump, 34'2" in the shot put, 6'0?" in the high jump, 99'0" in the discus throw, 12'9?" on the pole vault and 144'11" in the javelin throw. Pelger set a personal outdoor season-best distance in the long jump,
The decathlon was part of the annual Mt. SAC Relays, which are scheduled to continue April 16-18 in Walnut, Calif.
