Championship Season Begins This Week at Mountain West Outdoors

Championship season begins for the Air Force track and field team this week, as the squad – which includes the 25th-ranked men – travels to Clovis, Calif., for the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Outdoor Championships. The three-day meet gets underway on Thursday, May 14, and continues through Saturday, May 16, at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

MEET INFORMATION
The 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 14-16 at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of Buchanan High School in Clovis, California (1560 N. Minnewawa Ave.). The competition begins at 9:30 a.m. (PT) on Thursday and a complete schedule of events can be found on Page 2 of this release. Daily tickets are $15 for adults and $11 for children aged 12 and under. The meet will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network and MW App, while real-time results will be available through Record Timing and updates will be posted to Air Force social media (@af_tfxc) throughout the weekend. WHO'S WHO
The Mountain West Outdoor Championships will feature 12 women's teams (Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Nevada, No. 19 New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV, Utah State, Wyoming) and the men's teams from No. 25 Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, No. 22 New Mexico, San Jose State, Utah State and Wyoming.
AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Texas Tanner enters the Mountain West Outdoor Championships with NCAA-leading marks in both the discus (66.30m) and hammer (78.87m) throws, while holding a No. 2 conference ranking in the shot put at 19.24 meters. Cam Bodine and Morgan Glaser lead the Mountain West in the 800-meter run (2:04.20) and high jump (1.87m), respectively, while the Falcons hold 1-2 MW marks in the discus throw (Tanner/Evan Keefe – 56.10m) and 800-meter run (Bodine/Liliane Aittama – 2:05.38). Overall, Air Force has 24 top-five conference marks and holds multiple such rankings in four events.
HISTORY 101
The men have captured eight of the last 13 team titles at the outdoor championships (2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022, 2023, 2024). Individually, the Falcons have been at the top of the MW Outdoor award podium 114 times – highlighted by a program-best eight conference titles at the 2015 meet. Jamiel Trimble is the Falcons' most decorated MW Outdoor champion with eight gold medals (five individual, three relays). Highlighted by a program record 27 top-three finishes in 2017, the Falcons have accounted for 376 all-conference selections. Air Force currently holds six of the conference's Championship Meet Records, including the men's 200-meter dash, men's 1500-meter run, women's 5000-meter run, men's discus throw, men's hammer throw, and women's javelin throw (a complete list of Meet Records can be found on Page 2 of this release).
MEN RETURN TO THE NCAA TOP 25
The men returned to the nation's top 25 this week, as they moved up two spots to No. 25 in the May 12 edition of the USTFCCCA National Rankings. The Falcons have been listed among the NCAA Top 30 in every checkpoint this season – a seven-week stretch that marks the longest streak in program history.
AIR FORCE IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Backed by NCAA leading marks in the discus (66.30m) and hammer (78.87m) from Texas Tanner, four Falcons are listed among the nation's top 25 in the latest NCAA rankings (May 11). Tanner is also listed at No. 16 in the shot put (19.24m), while Jayden Nats is ranked 11th in the 10,000-meter run (27:59.31) and Jettason Rose is listed 20th in the 200-meter dash (20.45a). On the women's side, Morgan Glaser is ranked sixth in the high jump with a 1.87-meter clearance.
SQUAD GOALS
With a combined distance of 229.05 meters, the men's discus quartet of Texas Tanner, Evan Keefe, Massimo Grisotto and Mitchell Blakeslee are ranked No. 2 in the May 12 installment of the USTFCCCA #EventSquad Rankings – which are determined by the cumulative season-best marks from a team's top four athletes. The men's hammer squad of Tanner, Keefe, Grisotto and Arden Jenkins are ranked 13th with a 238.75-meter total, while the men's shot put lineup of Tanner, Trevin Jordan, Keefe and Jenkins are also listed among the NCAA Top 15 (No. 15, 68.43 meters).
COMING UP
The Falcons return to action on May 27-30, when select athletes head to Fayetteville, Ark., for the opening rounds of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The four-day West Prelim, held at John McDonnell Field on the University of Arkansas campus, will feature the top 48 athletes in each event. The list of national qualifiers will be announced next week.
