Hurdlers Lead Falcons in Final Day of Mt. SAC Relays

WALNUT, Calif. - The Air Force track and field team concluded competition at the Mt. SAC relays in Walnut, Calif., on Sunday, April 18. The 46th annual event, which featured some of the world's top athletes, was contested over a three-day period at Wilmer Hodge Stadium on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College.
The Falcon hurdlers posted some of the top finishes of the day. A trio of seniors finished in the top 15 out of 30 competitors in the 110-meter hurdles. By winning his section, senior Luke Marker (Manson, Wash.) finished seventh with a time of 14.18. Classmates Sean Temple (Monument, Colo.) and Jim Campbell (Portage, Mich.) finished 11th and 14th, respectively, with times of 14.33 and 14.61.
Temple and Campbell also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, along with sophomore Kory Pearson (Beavercreek, Ohio). Temple placed 10th in the event with a time of 51.25, while Campbell crossed finish line in a time of 52.08 to take 19th-place. Pearson recorded a 26th-place finish, recording a time of 53.13.
Senior Nick Bromberek (Lemont, Ill.) placed 27th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.90. From the field, senior Chris Banks (Culpeper, Va.) placed eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 46'11?".
Junior pole vaulter Paul Gensic (Fort Wayne, Ind.) tied for 12th in the invitational event with a season-best mark of 17'5". It was the fifth-best height by a collegiate athlete and just ?" off of his personal best mark.
Junior Dominique Boivin (Shoreline, Wash.), who entered the meet with the second-best shot put mark in Academy history, strengthened her position as she threw a distance of 45'0?" to finish fifth. Freshman Olivia Korte (Seneca, Kan.) finished 12th, with a mark of 40'9".
Sophomore Dana Pounds (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) threw a 160'4" in the javelin throw to take fifth. In the triple jump, senior LaTravia Robinson (Waynesboro, Ga.) finished 16th, with a distance of 36'6?".
The Falcons return to action next, splitting up for a pair of meets. Some members of the team will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for the Drake Relays on April 22-24. The rest of the team will head north to Ft. Collins, Colo., for the Glenn Morris Decathlon and Heptathlon (April 22-23) and Jack Christiansen Invitational (April 24).
