COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force senior Sean Temple (Monument, Colo.) was named the Mountain West Conference Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today (May 11). He becomes the first Falcon to win the weekly conference honor on more than one occasion during a single season.
Temple received his second weekly honor of the outdoor season after posting an Academy and Mountain West Conference record in the 110-meter hurdles. Crossing the finish line in a time of 13.80, Temple surpassed the 16-year old Academy record of 14.01 that was set by Mike Profit in 1988. Temple also eclipsed the all-time Mountain West Conference record that he set last season.
In addition to his accolades in the 110-meter hurdles at the Risdon Westen/Air Force Twilight Invitational, Temple also won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.57 and ran the second leg of the winning 4x100-meter relay team (41.98).
Temple, who also earned one conference athlete of the week honor during the indoor season, was joined this week by Colorado State's Christine Ahn, who was named the league's top female athlete.
The Falcons return to action this weekend at the 2004 MWC Outdoor Championships, which will be held May 12-15 in Las Vegas, Nev.
