Paul Gensic Advances to NCAA Pole Vault Finals

AUSTIN, Texas - Air Force junior Paul Gensic (Fort Wayne, Ind.) cleared a height of 17'4?" to advance to the finals of the pole vault competition at the 2004 NCAA Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, June 10.
Competing in the second flight of the day, Gensic was one of 15 athletes to qualify for the finals with a mark of 17'4?". Gensic was also one of just five vaulters that did not miss a single attempt, as he easily cleared his opening mark of 16'10?".
Gensic, who earned All-America honors during the indoor season, will compete in the national pole vault finals on Saturday, June 12, at Mike A. Meyers Stadium on the University of Texas campus. The 15 finalists are slated to begin competition at 6:45 p.m.
