Falcons Rally To 2-1 Overtime Win Over Jacksonville

ORLANDO, Fla. - Senior Elaine Tatarek's goal 1:38 into the first sudden-death overtime period rallied Air Force to a 2-1 win over Jacksonville in women's soccer action Friday afternoon at the UCF Fall Invitational at the UCF Soccer Field. The win was the 100th in the history of Falcon women's soccer, as the team improved to 3-2 on the season.
Jacksonville Falls to 0-3-1 on the year.
Jacksonville took an early 1-0 lead when Stephanie Elgie scored at the 25:40 mark off a corner kick.
The Falcons evened the score late in the match, when sophomore Brittney Perkowski found the back on the net on a penalty kick in the 70th minute.
Tatarek then scored her first goal of the season for AFA at the begginning of overtime with an assist by freshman Taryn Nicolaides to help the Falcons pull off the win.
Freshman Jennifer Drew had a career-best nine saves to get the win in goal for Air Force. Michelle Kimiotek had eight saves in the loss for the Dolphins.
The Falcons return to action Sunday, Sept. 12, against tourney host Central Florida at 1 p.m.
AFA Notes: The Falcons win the first-ever meeting between the two schools ... Air Force is 3-0 when Perkowski records a goal or assist ... AFA records first win in a game where they allowed a goal.
