Falcons Travel to Oklahoma for MPSF Meet

WHAT'S COMING UP
The No. 17 Air Force men's gymnastics team continues on the road this weekend, as it travels to Norman, Okla., to face the fourth-ranked Sooners on Friday, Jan. 28. The meet is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m., at the Lloyd Noble Center.
YOU LOOK FAMILIAR
Air Force and Oklahoma are meeting for the second time in three weeks. The Falcons hosted the Sooners in the season-opening Rocky Mountain Open, where the Sooners won the competition with a team score of 215.425.
CHECKING OUT THE SOONERS
Oklahoma is coming off of its first regular-season loss against its last 28 opponents. The Sooners fell 222.275-219.050 to third-ranked Michigan on Jan. 22. Freshman Jonathan Horton won the still rings with a 9.600, while senior Josh Gore tied for first on the pommel horse with a 9.450.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
The Air Force men's gymnastics team improved on its season-opening performance to take fourth at the Cardinal Invitational on Jan. 22. The team bettered their overall score by nearly a point to score a 185.600. Junior Eric Peele was the team's top finisher, placing ninth in the all-around with a score of 46.150.
RANK YOU VERY MUCH
The 17th-ranked Falcons have a challenging road ahead of them, as seven of the top-15 teams in the country are slated to be their opponents in the coming weeks. In addition, several of Air Force's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation counterparts - Oklahoma (4),California (7), Stanford (8) and Nebraska (12) -- are ranked near the top of the national rankings.
LEADING THE WAY
Air Force senior Kent Reichle and junior Brian Moore were selected as the captains for the 2005 competitive season. It is the fourth time in the past 10 years that a pair of Falcons has shared the honor of captain.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
After a busy start to the 2005 campaign, that saw the Falcons having to travel for two of the first three weeks, Air Force will have a week off from competition before heading the Annapolis, Md., on Feb. 12 for the Service Academy Triad. The Falcons will face off with Navy and Army at McDonough Hall.
