For three members of the Air Force men's gymnastics, the season continues this weekend with the 2005 NCAA Gymnastics Championships in West Point, N.Y. Sophomore Ryan Stromstad (Corona, Calif.), junior Eric Peele (Bethel, N.C.) and freshman Nathan Glandon (Abilene, Texas) will represent the Academy at the national meet beginning on April 7.
Stromstad will be competing on the floor exercise and high bar. Peele qualified on the high bar, as well as the parallel bars, while Glandon will compete on the floor exercise.
Individual competitors are selected based on the national qualifying scores (NQS) of those not on a competing team. Stromstad had the second-best individual qualifying score on the floor (8.950) and the sixth-best high bar score (8.300), while Peele picked up the second-highest NQS on the parallel bars (8.470) and the fifth-best mark on the high bar (8.320). Glandon recorded the sixth-best mark on the floor (8.740).
All three of the Falcons will compete in the first session, which will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday (April 7) at the Holleder Center's Christl Arena on the campus of the United States Military Academy. The top gymnasts from the first session will join competitors from the evening session for the individual event finals, which will be held on Saturday, April 9, at 7 p.m.
