Falcons Set To Compete In Service Academy Golf Classic

The Air Force golf team returns to action at the 14th-annual Service Academy Golf Classic, being held at the Trophy Club Hogan Course in Roanoke, Texas.
Scouting the Falcons... Air Force is coming off an 11th-place showing at the District 7 Shootout, hosted by Hawaii at the Angel Park GC in Las Vegas, Nev. The Falcons, led by senior Tyler Goulding and freshman Tom Whitney, finished at 864 (+12).
Goulding and Whitney both ended in a tie for 30th place, firing a three-round score of 214 (+1). Sophomore Andrew Gibson also placed in the top 50, finishing at 4-over-par, while rounding out the group were senior Chad Follett and junior Matt Tanis.
The Field... The Service Academy Golf Classic features teams from Air Force, Army, Navy and the Merchant Marines, as they square off in pursuit of the Reemtsma Trophy, given to the team champion. Of the four teams, Air Force is rated highest in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings at 142.
SAGC History... Now in its 14th season, the Service Academy Golf Classic has been dominated by Air Force, which has won 11 straight titles at the event, never finishing lower than second.
Last year, the Falcons finished 13 strokes ahead of second-place Army. Although an Air Force golfer did not win medalist honors, the Falcons did land individuals in three of the top five spots and six of the top 10 finishes.
Up Next... The Falcons wrap up the fall season next week, Oct. 30-31, at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, hosted by New Mexico State.
