Falcons to Take on Service Academy Rival Army

TIME FOR A LITTLE RIVALRY: After a week off from competition, the Air Force men's gymnastics team travels east for a showdown with service academy rival, Army. The two squads will meet twice over the weekend at Army's West Point home. The first competition is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m., while the academies close out the weekend with a 1:00 p.m. meet on Sunday (Feb. 5).
WE'LL BE SEEING YOU: Army will become familiar to Air Force over the next few weeks, as the Falcons will take on the Black Knights in three straight meets. Following the pair of dual meets this weekend in New York, Air Force and Army will meet once more on Feb. 18 at the All-Academy Championships in Aliso Viejo, Calif.
TAKING ON THE BEST: Once again, three-time Air Force foe, Oklahoma, was the preseason favorite, earning five first-place votes in the annual 'GymInfo' coaches' poll. The Sooners, with a season average of 211.733, are currently ranked second in the nation. In addition, fellow Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foes, Stanford and California, are ranked fourth and seventh, while Nebraska is in 14th. Service academy foes, Navy and Army, are ranked 11th and 12th, respectively, while regular-season opponent, Illinois-Chicago, is listed 13th.
RECAPPING THE OU MEET: Air Force dropped a 210.150-171.650 decision to No. 3 Oklahoma on Jan. 20. Brian Boardman and Kurt Antonio earned the team's top finish in a pair of events. Boardman took the team's top scores on the pommel horse (7.000) and parallel bars (7.450), while Antonio took top honors on the floor exercise (7.550) and still rings (7.600). Freshman Andrew Terrell led the team on the vault with an 8.600. Tyler Sickles led the team on the high bar with an 8.100.
