Katie Batchelder Named to All-Tournament Team

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Freshman Katie Batchelder picked up her first collegiate honor this weekend, as she was named to the all-tournament team of the William and Mary Invitational. Batchelder was one of seven athletes named to the all-tournament squad.

Batchelder collected a team-leading 26 kills, to post a 2.17 kills per game average. Hitting .049 over the 12-game tournament, the native of Chico, Calif., also ranked among the team's top performers in service aces (5), aces per game (0.42), digs (26) and digs per game (2.17).

St. John's Caitlin Rimgalia was named the tournament MVP, while Red Storm teammate Cassie Brooks was also named to the all-tournament squad. William and Mary's Kathleen Hawley and Lindsey Pflugner joined Batchelder on the roster, as did Stony Brook's Morgan Sweany and Norfolk State's Abaina Farell.

The Red Storm won the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record. Host-school William and Mary finished second at 3-1, while Stony Brook took third with a 2-1 slate. Air Force (1-3) and Norfolk State (0-4) rounded out the field.
