Air Force Fares Well in Blue and Silver Meet

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force men's gymnastics team opened the 2008 campaign this evening (Dec. 7) with its Blue and Silver Meet at the Academy's Cadet Gym. Competing as a single squad, the Falcons collected a team total of 318.100 under the new scoring system.
Senior Greg Stine won the all-around with a combined total of 82.000. Contributing to that score was a first-place finish on the floor exercise (14.700), pommel horse (12.600), as well as a tie for first on the vault (15.800).
The night's other all-arounder was freshman Daniel Klimkowski, who tallied a second-place score of 74.400. Klimkowski won the high bar with a total of 13.200, while finishing second on the pommel horse (12.100), vault (13.700) and parallel bars (13.000).
Senior Brian Boardman tied with Stine for first on the vault (15.800), while taking first-place outright on the parallel bars (13.200). Junior Josiah Loeser rounded out the event winners with a score of 13.900 on the still rings.
Stine also picked up a second-place tally of 13.700 on the still rings, while freshman William Eastman scored a 14.200 on the floor exercise to take second. Senior Kevin Murphy rounded out the Falcons' top-two finishers, as he scored a 12.500 on the high bar.
The Falcons officially open the 2008 season on Saturday, Jan. 12, when they host the annual Rocky Mountain Open in the Academy's West Gym.
