THE COMPETITION: Nebraska is currently ranked 10th in the country with a three-score average of 205.900...the Huskers, who are battling numerous injuries within their rotation, most recently dropped a 213.550-205.450 decision to Minnesota last weekend...Jason Wassung and Stephen Tetrault are ranked fourth and eighth, respectively, in the national all-around rankings.
YOU LOOK FAMILIAR: Air Force and
WE'LL BE SEEING YOU: This will be the second meeting between the Falcons and Huskers, but it won't be the last. Air Force and
HIGHER AND HIGHER: Highlighted by a pair of first-place finishes from Greg Stine, Air Force improved its season-best score for the second straight meet. The Falcons tallied a combined score of 196.500 to finish second to Illinois-Chicago on March 11.
IT'S THE STINE-WAY: Junior Greg Stine posted the squad's top mark on every event. With a team-best 9.400 on the floor exercise, he won that event, while also combining for a score of 51.850 to win the all-around. He also tied for second on the still rings with a score of 9.200, while finishing third on the pommel horse (8.100) and vault (8.300).
MAKING A MARK: Improving or matching its season-high team totals on three events, Air Force improved its overall total score by nearly two points. After two years without clearing the 190-point plateau, the Falcons have surpassed that mark three times over the last two weeks.
SHINING SCHONIG: In the Falcons' second meet at UIC, sophomore Jacob Schonig tied with Greg Stine for second on the still rings, with a career-best score of 9.200.
THE TRIO'S TRIO: Junior Greg Stine, sophomore Josiah Loeser and classmate Jacob Schonig each recorded top-three finishes in the Falcons' first outing at Illinois-Chicago. Stine tallied a season-best score of 9.300 to earn first-place honors, while Loeser garnered a career-best 8.300 to take third on the parallel bars. Schonig accounted for his second-highest finish of the season (8.900) to finish third on the still rings.
FIRST TIME OUT: The Falcons set a new season-best team score of 194.850 in a dual meet with Illinois-Chicago on March 9. That score was an improvement of nearly two points from its previous best mark set last weekend. Air Force set season-high team scores on the floor exercise, still rings and high bars, while matching its season-best score on the pommel horse.
