LINCOLN, Neb. - Junior Greg Stine (Houston, Texas) picked up a pair of individual event victories as the No. 16 Air Force men's gymnastics team closed out the regular season with a 207.750-190.100 loss to 10th-ranked Nebraska in Lincoln on Saturday, March 17. Stine won the floor exercise and still rings, while picking up top-three marks in two other events.
Stine scored an 8.900 on the floor exercise and a 9.100 the still rings to win both of those events. In addition, he tallied a third-place mark on the parallel bars (8.450), en route to his third-place finish in the all-around (48.650). He also finished within the top half of the field on the pommel horse (sixth-7.600) and high bar (sixth-7.650).
Junior Brian Boardman (Naperville, Ill.) led the Falcons on two events, as he tallied fifth-place scores of 7.800 on the pommel horse and 8.100 on the vault. Classmate Kevin Murphy (The Woodlands, Texas) picked up a team-best fourth-place score of 7.850 on the high bar.
Freshman Brennan Wolford (Thornville, Ohio) finished fourth on the floor with a score of 8.700, while also registering sixth-place finishes on the vault (7.900) and parallel bars (7.750). And sophomore Jacob Schonig (Los Gatos, Calif.) earned a fourth-place finish on the still rings with a score of 8.650.
Air Force begins the post-season next weekend (March 24-25), as it travels to Williamsburg, Va., for the 2007 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships.
