Ralph Lindeman Selected as Team USA Manager

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Air Force track and field head coach Ralph Lindeman has been named the Head Manager for the Team USA men's track and field squad that will compete at the 2007 IAAF World Outdoor Championships in Osaka, Japan, USA Track and Field announced on April 12.

Lindeman will be a part of a men's staff that includes head coach Pat Henry (Texas A&M), assistant coaches Mike Holloway (Florida), Ron Warhurst (Michigan), Cliff Rovelto (Kansas State) and Robert Weir (Stanford), as well as relay coaches Brooks Johnson and Orin Richburg.

Lindeman is in his 18th season as the head coach at Air Force. A five-time conference coach of the year, Lindeman also was the 2001 NCAA Mountain Region Men's Outdoor Coach of the Year. Lindeman was an assistant coach at the 2004 Olympic Games and was men's head coach a the 2001 World University Games, 1999 Pan American Games and the "North Team" at the 1993 U.S. Olympic Festival. He was an advisor to the South Korean team at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul and was a scheduling manager for the 1996 Games in Atlanta.

Team USA is currently ranked as the world's top track and field team. At the last such meet in 2005, Team USA set an all-time record total of 14 gold medals. In addition, they claimed eight silver and three bronze medals for a total of 25 medals (the second-best outing ever).

The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Outdoor Track and Field Championships will run Aug. 24-Sept. 2.
