Falcons Finish First Day At MWC Championship

Tucson, Ariz. - With one round complete, the Air Force golf team sits in seventh place at the Mountain West Conference Championship, being held at the par-71, 7,136-yard Catalina Course at Tucson National. BYU leads in the team standings at 272 (-12), while UNLV's Seung-su Han sits atop the individual leaderboard at 65 (-6).
The Falcons closed with an opening round score of 298 (+14) on the first day, led by senior Tyler Goulding (Tracy, Calif.). Goulding, who fired three birdies on the day, shot a 1-under-par 70 to open the tournament and is currently tied for 10th place overall. Next in the individual standings for Air Force is sophomore Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.), tied for 25th with a round-one score of 74.
Andrew Gibson (So., San Ramon, Calif.) and Bob Whitney (Jr., La Quinta, Calif.) are tied for 37th at 77, while senior Chad Follett (El Paso, Texas) rounds out the group at 80.
Round two of the MWC Championship is slated to begin tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. (PT).
