Relay Team Clocks Fifth-Best Time in Academy History

The 4x1600-meter relay team placed sixth with a time of 16:55.90. Junior Ian McFarland and senior Jason Beck joined sophomores Sean Houseworth and Matt Williams to record the fifth-fastest time in Academy history. It is now only the fifth time in Academy history that a relay squad completed the race in less than 17 minutes.
Sophomore Kellen Curry placed 18th in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking a career-best time of 14.44. Senior Olivia Korte picked up a sixth-place finish in the discus throw, tossing a distance of 162'1". In a field of 30, Korte was one of just eighth throwers to surpass the 160-foot mark. Freshman Nick Frawley tied for eighth in the pole vault after clearing 16'0¾".
One of three Falcons to compete in the javelin throw, senior Casey Bayne picked up a 15th-place finish in that event, as she recorded a distance of 138'6". Bayne was followed closely by freshman Sara Neubauer, who placed 16th with a throw of 137'10". Classmate Katie Weber rounded out the Air Force contingent with an 18th-place throw of 136'4".
In addition, former Air Force standout and current volunteer coach 2Lt.Dana Pounds threw an exhibition in the javelin. A three-time champion of the Drake Relays as a collegiate competitor, Pounds tossed a 182'0" - the best throw of the field.
Air Force action at the Drake Relays concludes tomorrow (April 28) with seven more events. The day will begin at 10 a.m. (CDT) with the men's discus throw. The remainder of the Air Force team will head north for the first-ever Wyoming Invitational in
