USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - With a number of nationally-ranked programs on the schedule this winter, the Air Force men's gymnastics team embarks on another ambitious campaign, head coach Kip Simons announced on Aug. 1. For the second straight year, Air Force will spend much of the season on the road, as 10 of its 13 competitions take place away from the friendly confines of the Cadet West Gym.
The Falcons open the season on Jan. 11, when they host the annual Rocky Mountain Open and welcome several of the nation's top programs to the Cadet West Gym. Air Force heads out on the road for the next six meets, beginning with the first of three trips to Lincoln, Neb. The Falcons will match up with Nebraska on Jan. 19.
Air Force begins the month of February with a pair of East Coast competitions. The Falcons will battle service academy rival Army in a Feb. 1 dual meet at West Point, before traveling to Springfield, Mass., for a meet with Springfield College on Feb. 3. Air Force and Army will meet once more, as both squads join Navy at the annual Service Academy Championships on Feb. 16, in Aliso Viejo, Calif.
The Falcons remain on the West Coast for the Pacific Coast Classic in Oakland, Calif., on Feb. 23, before competing in the Southwest Cup on March 1. Nearly two months after its last home appearance, Air Force returns to the Academy for a pair of meets with Illinois-Chicago (March 7, March 9). A return trip to Nebraska closes out the regular season for the Falcons on March 22.
Three post-season meets highlight the end of the season for the Falcons. Air Force travels back to Springfield College for the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships on March 29-30 and makes one final trip to Nebraska on April 5 for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships. The NCAA Championships are slated for April 17-19 in Palo Alto, Calif.
