Air Force Opens Season Hosting Centenary

The Air Force women's gymnastics team opens the 2008 season this weekend, hosting Centenary in a pair of competitions in the Academy's Cadet West Gym. The Falcons host the Ladies on Friday (Jan. 18) at 6 p.m., before facing off in a rematch on Sunday (Jan. 20) at 1 p.m. Both meets are free to the public.

This will be the season-opening meet for both programs.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Falcons will be home for seven meets this season, beginning with the season opener with Centenary on Jan. 18. Air Force will also host MIT, UC-Davis, Eastern Michigan and local rival Denver in the West Gym throughout the 2008 campaign.
OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN...
Senior Kelly Lewis will serve as the captain for the 2008 women's gymnastics team. Lewis, a two-year letterwinner for the Falcons, will provide solid leadership to a young Air Force squad that features just four juniors and seniors, compared to nine sophomores and freshmen.
WELCOME TO THE SHOW
Head coach Doug Day's first recruiting class features five gymnasts with stellar credentials. In all, the newest group of Falcons - which include Holland Davis, Brittany Dutton, Annette Ehrman, Ashley Green and Lisa Wong - boasts a combined resume' that features five appearances at the Junior Olympics national qualifier, one state all-around champion, one regional balance beam champion, three top-three all-around finishes at the regional championships and numerous appearances at their various state championships.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
Air Force will take to the road for their first meet of the season on Sunday, Jan. 27, when they travel to Denton, Texas, for a quadrangular meet with Texas Woman's University, Denver and Maryland.
