Last Meeting vs. BYU
Top-seeded BYU defeated ninth-seed Air Force, 72-40, in second-round action at the 2007 Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Tournament on Wednesday, March 7, at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The Cougars shot 50.9 percent from the field and dominated all aspects of the game. BYU out-rebounded Air Force 38-30 and had 20 assists to AFA's eight. Mallary Gillespie led BYU with 20 points and added five rebounds and five assists. Lauren Riley added 12 points. The Falcons were led by Alecia Steele's team high 12 points, five rebounds and three assists. Brooke Cultra and Pamela Findlay were the next leading scorers with seven points each. BYU jumped out to a 36-18 halftime lead and never looked back. Air Force shot 28.3 percent from the field and 25 percent from three-point range. Four Falcons seniors--Letricia Castillo, Dawn Higginbotham, Jacki Novak and Andrea Taylor--played their final college game.
