USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force boxing team concluded its first session of Friday Night Fights with eight bouts in the Cadet Gym Boxing Room on Oct. 10. The lineup featured several returning veterans, but it was also the first six-minute bout of the season for several of the newer members of the program.
Senior Dave Simon was named the Boxer of the Week, after showing a patient, but persistent attack. Simon sent his opponent to the mat on three occasions with a vicious left hook. Joining Simon as victors of the first Friday Night Fights were Paul Homsher (160 pounds), Dan Winningham (heavyweight), Harvey White (135), Casey Butikofer (208), Matt Tasin (183), Vincent Miranda (168) and Moses Krehbiel (194).
The Falcons are off until Oct. 24, when they travel to Detroit, Mich., for the annual Service Academy Classic against Army and Navy.
