The Air Force women's basketball team opens the 2008-09 season this Thursday, Nov. 6 with an exhibition game against Adams State beginning at 7 p.m. in Clune Arena. The game is open to the public and admission is free.
Team Records:
Air Force went 10-19 last season and 4-12 in Mountain West Conference play. Adams State went 13-15 last season and 10-9 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference West Division play.
The Coaches:
Air Force is coached by Ardie McInelly (Boise State, 1982), who is 50-148 entering her eighth season at the Academy and 127-210 in her 13th year overall as a head coach.
Adams State is coached by Kelly Kruger (Northwestern (Iowa), 1981), who is 22-33 entering his third year at Adams State and 346-269 in his 23rd year overall as a head coach.
Who's Back
Air Force returns nine letterwinners and three starters from last season. The Falcons' top returning scorers are sophomore guard Raimee Beck and senior guard Brooke Cultra. Beck averaged 9.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game as a freshman and Cultra scored 7.5 points and pulled down 4.5 rebounds per game as a junior. Air Force also returns seniors Kim Kreke (C) and Dana Loveless (F), junior Kathleen Schjodt (F) and sophomores Jenny Bandi (F), Candice Chase (G), Liz Dunsworth (C) and Stevie Puentes (G).

Who's New
Air Force welcomes four freshmen to the team. Ariane Brown (G), Anna Gault (G), Jamela Satterfield (G) and Amber Wilmore (F) enter their first year at the Academy. Brown and Wilmore are Colorado Springs natives. Brown attended Palmer High School and Wilmore attended Falcon High School in Falcon.
Scouting the Adams State
Adams State returns seven letterwinners and two starters from last season's team. The Grizzlies top returning scorer is sophomore guard Vera Jo Bustos, who averaged 13.0 points per game. Bustos scored 26 points in a 59-58 exhibition loss at Colorado State last week.
Last meeting
Air Force and Adams State last met in 2007, a 68-48, Falcon win at the Academy. The Falcons made 8-of-15 three-pointers in the game (53.3 %) and blocked seven shots as a team. Seniors Alecia Steele and Pamela Findlay combined to score 34 points for the Falcons, 18 for Steele and 16 for Findlay.
Air Force-Adams State Ties
Air Force sophomore guard Stevie Puentes and Adams State senior forward Nicole Tatum are both Rio Rancho N.M. natives and were teammates at Rio Rancho High School.
Air Force in exhibitions
Last year, Air Force defeated Regis, 89-52, in its lone exhibition game last year. Air Force is 5-2 in their last seven exhibition games.

The Falcons open the regular season hosting Northern Colorado on Friday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. The game is part of a doubleheader with the Men's team, which hosts Western State immediately after at 7 p.m.
