Last Meeting vs. UNLV
The Air Force women's basketball team lost at UNLV, 58-48, in Mountain West Conference action Saturday, Jan, 12, in Cox Pavilion. Senior Pamela Findlay led the Falcons with 11 points and six rebounds. A first-half filled with turnovers and cold shooting put the Falcons at a 31-18 disadvantage it could not overcome. The Falcons committed 13 turnovers and shot just 29.2 percent from the field as they scored the fewest points in a half all season. Getting easy baskets off turnovers, UNLV shot a blistering 63.6 percent from the field including 3-of-6 baskets from three-point range in the first-half. Without leading scorer and rebounder Alecia Steele--who did not make the trip due to a re-injury of her ankle suffered against Utah--the Falcons struggled to get their offense going against a stifling Rebel defense. The Falcons were held to a season-low in points and shot just 34 percent from the field for the game. Dominique Harris and Brittany Halberg led the Rebels with nine points apiece. Erica Helms had five assists and Sequoia Holmes had eight rebounds. Latoya Hunt, a Colorado Springs native and Sierra high school graduate, score four points and blocked two shots in the game. Junior Chasmine Jones had a solid offensive night for the Falcons, scoring a career-high nine points to go with four rebounds. Freshman Raimee Beck led the Falcons with four assist and three steals and added eight points. Kim Kreke had eight points and Dana Loveless added two points and three assists starting in place of Steele.
