Air Force Golfers Head to PING Cougar Classic

The Air Force golf team travels to its final regular season tournament of the year this weekend, April 18-19, as it heads to the 46th-annual PING Cougar Classic, hosted by BYU. The 54-hole tournament, being played at the par-72, 6,950-yard Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah, is slated to begin Friday at 8:00 a.m. Two 18-hole rounds will be played Friday, followed by the final round on Saturday.
Last Time Out...
Led by sophomore Tom Whitney, Air Force finished tied for 15th at the Ron Moore Invitational March 21-23 with a three-round score of 885. Whitney fired a 3-under-par 69 in the final round to finish the weekend at 214 (-2), tying for 20th place overall. Meanwhile, junior captain Shaun O'Bryant tied for 35th at 217 (+1).
The Field...
Fourteen teams are slated to compete in this week's tournament. The teams, with the latest Golfweek/Sagarin ratings in parentheses, include: Air Force (187), Boise State (106), BYU (91), Idaho State, New Mexico (113), New Mexico State (89), Sacramento State (166), Saint Mary's (46), Utah (95), Utah State, Utah Valley State (198), Washington State (123), Weber State and Wyoming (194).
