Falcons Tied for Sixth Place at PING Cougar Classic

Provo, Utah - After two rounds of competition, the Air Force golf team is tied for sixth place at the PING Cougar Classic, hosted by BYU at the 7,001 yard, par-72 Riverside Country Club. The Falcons, who fired a 9-under-par 279 in the opening round, are currently 5-under-par with a score of 571.
Leading Air Force after two rounds is sophomore Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), tied for second with a 6-under-par 138. Whitney, who opened the day with a round of 67, sits just two strokes out of the lead. Junior captain Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.) is next for the Falcons, tied for 15th place at 142 (-2), while Andrew Gibson (Jr., San Ramon, Calif.) is tied for 39th with a two-round score of 146.
Rounding out the group for the Falcons are freshman Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) and senior Bob Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) at 148 and 150, respectively.
New Mexico State leads in the team standings with a 17-under-par 559, while Washington State's Nick Ellis sits atop the individual leaderboard at 136 (-8).
The final round begins tomorrow with an 8:00 a.m. start.
