Falcons Set Four Top-10 Times at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - Highlighted by four top-10 finishes in the 5000- and 10,000-meter races, the Air Force track and field team concluded the first day of action at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. In addition, to the top-10 finishes, the Falcons also accounted for one regional qualifying mark and three incursions into the program's all-time record book.
Junior Parker Cowles collected the best finish of the afternoon, posting a second-place time of 31:06.46 in the 10,000-meter run. Classmate Sean Houseworth finished third in the 5000-meter run with a time of 14:08.65. The sixth-fastest time in Air Force history is also a NCAA regional qualifying mark.
Air Force earned a pair of top-10 finishes from junior Katie Lynch and freshman Katherine Ward in the 10,000-meter run. Lynch finished seventh in a time of 38:23.03, while Ward clocked an eighth-place time of 38:23.47. In addition, Lynch's time is the ninth-best in program history, while Ward's is 10th-fastest.
In addition, senior Kenny Grosselin finished 12th in the 10,000-meter run (31:53.50), while junior Matt Williams earned the same placement in the 5000-meter run (14:42.82). Sophomore Brittany Morreale rounded out the Falcons' competitors in those two events with a 13th-place finish of 17:20.04 in the 5000-meter event.
Air Force was also represented in the 1500-meter run, as senior Kelly Robinson finished 10th in the event with a time of 4:52.13.
Action continues for Air Force tomorrow (April 25) with the second day of competition at the Drake Relays.
