Brian Boardman Named MWC Scholar-Athlete

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Brian Boardman was one of 506 student-athletes to be named to the Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete, the league announced this afternoon (June 23). Boardman, a native of Naperville, Ill., graduated at the end of May with a 3.58 grade-point-average in mathematics. It is the second straight year that Boardman has been honored by the MWC.
Boardman, a solid four-year competitor for the men's team, participated on four events in every team competition this season. He also competed in the NCAA National Qualifier as a vault specialist. He posted the Falcons' second-highest vault total and tied for the third-best pommel horse score. Boardman also excels academically, as he picked up his third consecutive MPSF academic all-conference distinction.
He joins former Falcons James Hayes (2001, 2002), Aaron Jackson (2003) and Patrick McAndrew (2002, 2003, 2004) as members of the men's gymnastics program to be honored by the Mountain West Conference.
The MWC Scholar-Athlete Award is the highest academic honor bestowed by the conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
