Men's Gymnastics Announces Ambitious 2009 Schedule

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - With several nationally-ranked programs on the schedule for this upcoming winter, the Air Force men's gymnastics team embarks on another ambitious campaign, head coach Kip Simons announced today with the release of the 2009 schedule. The Falcons will be on the road for much of the season, competing in just two meets at the Academy.
The Falcons open the season on Jan. 10, when they host the annual Rocky Mountain Open and welcome several of the nation's top programs to the Cadet West Gym. Air Force heads out east for a pair of weekend competitions at Navy (Jan. 24) and Temple (Jan. 25). The Falcons return to the Academy on Jan. 31, when they host Army in its second - and last - home competition of the season.
Air Force returns to competition on Feb. 14, when it travels to Portland, Ore., for the annual All-Academy Championships against Army and Navy. The Falcons return to the West Coast on Feb. 21, as they participate in the prestigious Pacific Coast Classic in Oakland, Calif. They will compete at the Southwest Cup in Tempe, Ariz., on Feb. 28, to wrap up the month.
The Falcons will wrap up the regular season with three dual competitions. Air Force will travel to Lincoln, Neb., on Mar. 6, for a meet with Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe, Nebraska. The Falcons will then travel to Chicago, Ill., for a pair of competitions at Illinois-Chicago (March 20, March 22).
Three post-season meets highlight the conclusion of the 2009 season for Air Force. The Falcons travel to Williamsburg, Va., for the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships on March 27-28, before heading to Norman, Okla., for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Apr. 4. The NCAA Championships are slated for April 16-18 in Minneapolis, Minn.
