Air Force Opens MWC Play At Wyoming
The Air Force women's soccer team opens Mountain West Conference play Friday, Oct. 3 at Wyoming. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.. at the Madrid Sports Complex.
Last Week
Air Force dropped a 3-1 match at home to San Jose State last Friday night. After an hour and thirty minute delay to the start of the game due to lightning, the game got under way. San Jose State then scored three goals in a 26-minute span, starting at the 41 minute mark in the first period. Air Force tied the game with a goal by Bridgett Murphy in the 43rd minute, but were unable to get any more scores. The Falcons lost goalkeeper Ashlee Curtis to an injury in the 37th minute, when she collided with the left goalpost making a diving save.

Freshman Bridgett Murphy leads Air Force with six goals scored. Senior Roni Yadlin is second on the team with three goals and seven points.

Air Force freshman forward Bridgett Murphy leads the Falcons with six goals scored on the season and has scored a goal in the Falcons' last three games. Her six goals scored on the season are the most by a Falcon since 2001 and the most by a freshman since Jennifer Rowland scored seven in 2001.
One of Nation's Youngest Teams
Air Force has 16 freshmen on its roster. That total makes up 64 percent of the roster. The Falcons have started six freshmen four times this year and at least five freshmen in eight of nine games.
Curtis & Wallace Split Goal keeping Duties
With a goalkeeper-by-committee approach, junior Ashlee Curtis and senior Erin Wallace have split time in front of the Falcon net. Curtis has made six starts and logged 559:43 minutes in front of the net and has a 1.29 goals-against average. Wallace has made four starts and logged 301:02 minutes and has a 1.79 GAA. Freshman Ariana Green also saw her first action Sunday against Grambling recording two saves in 45 shutout minutes of action. The three have combined to record 32 saves and post a solid 1.21 GAA.
Scouting Wyoming
Wyoming is 5-5-1 entering the week after dropping at 2-1 match at home to Utah State. Junior midfielder Emily Layton leads the Cowgirls with five goals scored. Senior Jamie Scarcliffe has logged 778 minutes in front of the net for Wyoming and has a 1.01 GAA.
The Coaches
Marty Buckley is in his 17th year as the head coach at Air Force. The 1978 Chico State (CA) grad. has a 113-188-19 record at the Academy.
Danny Sanchez is in his first year as head coach at Wyoming. The 1991 UConn grad. has a 133-16-8 record in seven years as a head coach.

- Wyoming has nine players on its roster from Colorado. Junior midfielder Emily Layton is a Colorado Springs native and attended Palmer High School. Senior defender Laine Hubbard is a Monument native and attended Lewis-Palmer High School.
Series History vs. Wyoming
Air Force is 6-6 all-time against Wyoming. The two teams first played each other on Oct. 16, 1996, a 2-1 Falcon win in Laramie. Last year, Wyoming won 2-0 at the Academy. The Cowgirls have won five in a row in the series. Air Force last defeated Wyoming in 2002.
