Falcons Open Season with Air Force Triangular

The Air Force women's gymnastics team opens the 2009 season this weekend, hosting the Air Force Triangular on Friday, Jan. 9. The Falcons will welcome their visitors from Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Wisconsin-La Crosse to the Cadet West Gym. Action is slated to begin at 6 p.m.

Tickets for the 2009 season are $5 for adults/$2 for children and can be purchased at the entrance to West Gym.

This is the first meet of the season for all three programs.
SEASON AT A GLANCE
The Falcons are gearing up for an exciting season in 2009. Despite the fact that there is only one senior on the roster, Air Force returns a wealth of talent for the 2009 campaign. There are nine letterwinners in the lineup, including three USAG All-Americans and four that saw action at the NCAA Regional Championships. In addition, the Falcons added four impressive newcomers.
HOME SWEET HOME
Air Force will compete in nearly half of its competitions within the friendly confines of the Cadet West Gym. The Falcons will host the Air Force Triangular, Alaska-Anchorage, Texas Woman's University and Denver during the regular season. Air Force will also host the 2009 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships in March.
THE LONE SENIOR
Although there is only one senior on the Falcons' roster, Abbey Rogers, the team's returning MVP, brings a wealth of knowledge to the Falcons' program. Rogers, who shared Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Year honors in 2008, will be called upon to lead the young Air Force squad, serving as the program's captain.
WELCOME TO THE SHOW
Air Force added four highly talented freshmen to its roster in 2009. Colby Chaput, Jenna Dudley, Samantha Jones and Katie Shetley bring in a valuable amount of experience at the club level to the Falcons' rotation. All four gymnasts bring tremendous resumes to the Falcons' rotation, including numerous championship titles at the club level.
ROGERS PACES TEAM B-52 IN MIXED PAIRS MEET
Senior Abbey Rogers picked up three first-place finishes, as Team B-52 won the inaugural Air Force Mixed Pairs Meet in December. Rogers won the vault (9.700), balance beam (9.700) and floor exercise (9.800), while classmate Josiah Loeser and freshman Jacob Houder won the still rings (14.200) and pommel horse (13.400), respectively.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
Air Force will travel to Abbey Rogers' hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa., for a quadrangular meet on Saturday, Jan. 17. The meet will feature Bridgeport and New Hampshire, as well as host school Pitt.
