Falcons Host Adams State In Home-Opener
The Air Force women's basketball team hosts Adams State this Tuesday, Nov. 17, in its 2009-10 home-opener at Clune Arena. Live stats and internet radio will be available for the game, which tips off at 7 p.m.
Scouting Air Force
Air Force returns six letterwinners and three starters from last years team. Junior guard Raimee Beck is the Falcons' top returning scorer, averaging 12.9 points per game as a sophomore. Junior center Liz Dunsworth and sophomore point guard Anna Gault also started last year as juniors. Air Force welcomes nine freshmen to the team, the largest freshman class in school history.
Last Week
Air Force lost both of its games at the Holiday Inn Islander Tip-Off Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas, last weekend. The Falcons lost its season-opener to tourney host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 65-46 and then dropped their second game to Tennessee Tech 81-49.
Scouting Adams State
Adams State opens its season vs. Air Force. The Grizzlies return six letterwinners and four starters off a 14-14 season in 2008-09. Junior guard Vera Jo Bustos is ASC's leading returning scorer, averaging 18 points per game last year. Adams State went 0-2 in its two preseason exhibition games, losing 72-36 to Wyoming and 84-67 to Colorado State.
Air Force In 2008-09
Air Force went 4-26 in 2008-09. The Falcons went 0-16 in Mountain West Conference play, finishing in ninth place. Sephomore guard Raimee Beck led Air Force in scoring, averaging 12.9 points per game. Beck was also named team MVP and earned all-MWC honors.

Last Meeting vs. Adams State
The Air Force women's basketball team opened its 2008-09 season with a 55-40 exhibition win over Adams State Thursday Nov. 6, 2008, at Clune Arena. The Falcons broke open a 21-21 halftime tie by outscoring the Grizzlies 34-19 in the second half. Air Force center Kim Kreke notched a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Raimee Beck and junior Kathleen Schjodt also reached double-figures in scoring for the Falcons, with Beck scoring 11 and Schjodt 10. Vera Jo Bustos was Adam State's leading scorer with eight points. The Falcons never held a lead in the first half and trailed by as many as seven before scratching their way back to a halftime tie. Air Force struggled to hold onto the ball in the opening stanza, committing 11 turnovers and thus taking nine fewer shots than Adams State. The Falcons took their first lead, 22-21, at the 19:23 mark in the second half on a Dana Loveless free throw. After Air Force upped their lead to 24-21, Adams State came back with a 7-0 run to take a 28-24 lead with 13:57 left to go in the game. That's around the time the Falcons took over the ballgame, rallying to outscore the Grizzlies 31-12 over the remainder of the game. The Falcons first went on a 10-2 run to go ahead 34-30 at the 11-minute mark. Air Force then had another surge, out-scoring Adams State 8-2 over the next three minutes to take a 42-34 lead with eight minutes left to play. Kreke had a dominant night inside the paint for Air Force, getting to the line nine times and sinking seven of her free throws. The senior made it hard to Adams State to get any easy looks inside, blocking three shots. The Falcons out-rebounded the Grizzlies, 42-30 with Beck adding eight Schjodt six boards. For the Falcons, Loveless and sophomore Stevie Puentes started along side senior Brooke Cultra, Kreke and Beck. Loveless scored five points and added five rebounds in 19 minutes. Puentes scored eight points and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line to go with two assists in 25 minutes. Freshman Anna Gault played 11 minutes as a reserve point guard for the Falcons. Gault tallied two points and two assists. Sophomore Liz Dunsworth also saw action for Air Force, scoring eight points and pulling down a rebound in 23 minutes.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Game Recap
The Air Force women's basketball dropped its season-opener to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 65-46, Friday night at the Holiday Inn Islander Tip-off Classic at American Bank Center. Junior guard Raimee Beck led the Falcons with 21 points and eight rebounds. The Islanders held a 23-19 halftime lead and then broke the game open in the second-half, outscoring the Falcons 27-42. Senior center Elisa Beagle led TAMUCC with 16 points. Guard Deziree Green notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and guard Jade Davis added 10 points and five assists. Air Force was held to 31.8 percent shooting on the night and committed 25 turnovers. Freshman guard Alicia Leipprandt finished with 11 points in 14 minutes off the bench for the Falcons. Sophomore guard Anna Gault led the team with four assists as well.
Tennessee Tech Game Recap
The Air Force women's basketball dropped a 81-49 game against Tennessee Tech Saturday night at the Holiday Inn Islander Tip-off Classic at American Bank Center. Junior guard Raimee Beck led the Falcons for the second night in a row with 15 points and eight rebounds. The Panthers jumped ahead 15-2 to start the game and never looked back. Kyle Cook scored 18 and Tacarra Hayes 16 to lead four TTU players in double-figures. Krystal Stirrup scored 11 points and Rachel Glidden added 10. Air Force was held to 27.5 percent shooting from the field. The Falcons did a good job of getting to the free-throw line, making 29-of-20 from the charity stripe. Air Force also out-rebounded Tennessee Tech 43-42. The Panthers led 34-24 at halftime and then erupted for 47 points in the second.
Beck Off To Strong Start
Junior guard Raimee Beck is off to a strong start so far in 2009-10. Beck has led Air Force in scoring in both games and is amongst the Mountain West Conference top 10 in several categories.

Freshmen Make Immediate Impact
Four Falcon freshmen are already already making immediate impacts for the Falcons. Four of Air Force's top five scorers are freshmen. Rookies Alicia Leipprandt, Dymond James, Kelsey Berger and Katie Hilbig rank second-through-fifth in scoring for the Falcons.
Falcons Picked To Finish Ninth In MWC
In the preseason conference poll released in October, Air Force was chosen by the coaches and select media to finish ninth in the Mountain West.
Three Regular Season Games on TV
Three Air Force women's basketball regular season games will be televised. All three games will be televised on the Mountain West Sports Network (Mtn.). Air Force could also have games televised at the MWC Championships.

Team Captains
Senior Kathleen Schjodt and junior Raimee Beck have been named team co-captains for the 2009-10 season. Schjodt is a three-year letterwinner at forward. Beck is a two-year letterwinner and returning starter at guard.
Six Letterwinners and Three Starters Return
Six letterwinners and three starters return for the Falcons. Juniors Raimee Beck and Liz Dunsworth and sophomore Anna Gault are Air Forces returning starters. Senior Kathleen Schjodt, junior Candice Chase and sophomore Jamela Satterfield round out the other returners. In addition, sophomore Kira Gonzalez, who did not play in any game as a freshman, also returns.
