Falcons Travel To Army and Stony Brook
The Air Force women's basketball hits the road for a pair of games in New York this week. The Falcons take on service academy rival Army this Wed., Nov. 25 and then head to Long Island to take on Stony Brook on Friday, Nov. 27. Live stats, audio and video will be available for both games.
Scouting Air Force
Air Force returns six letterwinners and three starters from last years team. Junior guard Raimee Beck is the Falcons' top returning scorer, averaging 12.9 points per game as a sophomore. Junior center Liz Dunsworth and sophomore point guard Anna Gault also started last year as juniors. Air Force welcomes nine freshmen to the team, the largest freshman class in school history.
Last Outing
Air Force lost to Portland, 73-65, last Friday and are now 1-3 on the season. Raimee Beck notched a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way. Senior Kathleen Schjodt added 11 points and sophomore Anna Gault had a season-high nine assists.
Scouting Army
Army enters the week 2-2 on the season after losing at Yale and defeating Delaware State last week. Junior forward Erin Anthony leads the team averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds per game. The Black Knights are shooting 38.2 percent from the field as a team and 21.5 percent from three-point range.
Scouting Stony Brook
Stony Brook enters the week with a 0-3 record on the season after losses to St. John's and Robert Morris last week. Junior forward Kirsten Jeter leads the team averaging 13.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. The Seawolves are shooting 26.6 percent from the field as a team and 10.3 percent from three-point range.

Last Meeting vs. Army
Army closed out the game with a 17-2 run and rallied to a 54-44 win over Air Force in service academy women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena. The loss dropped the Falcons to 1-4 on the season, while the Black Knights improved to 2-4. After trailing for much of the second-half, Air Force pulled ahead of Army 42-37 with a three-point basket by Kim Kreke with 4:23 to go. Army then went on a 15-0 run to jump ahead 53-42 and pull away for good. The Black Knights defense scored 22 points off 23 Air Force turnovers and got to the free-throw line 21 times, making 14. Air Force never really got in sync offensively, shooting 34.8 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from three-point range. Alex McGuire led Army with 16 points, including four three-point baskets. Erin Anthony added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Knights. Kreke led Air Force with 15 points and 11 rebounds. It was Kreke's second double-double of the season and her fifth-consecutive game with at least 11 boards. Brooke Cultra added eight points and six rebounds to go with a team-high three assists. Raimee Beck also chipped in with seven points and eight rebounds and Kathleen Schjodt sparked the Falcons with five points and three rebounds off the bench. The first-half was a see-saw battle with Army taking a 24-22 lead into the half. Army steadily held the lead throughout the second-half before Air Force made their move with seven minutes remaining. The Falcons took their first lead of the second period, 37-35, on a pair of free throw shots by Beck with 6:11 to play. With the score knotted at 37-37, Air Force seemed to pull away as Kreke scored five consecutive points, concluding with the three-point basket. It was not to be for the Falcons however, as Army then came back with the big rally and eventually the win.

Portland Game Recap
The Air Force women's basketball team fell to visiting Portland, 73-65, Friday afternoon in Clune Arena. Junior guard Raimee Beck paced the Falcons with her second-consecutive double-double of the season, recording a season-best 25 points to go along with 10 rebounds. With the loss, the Falcons drop to 1-3 on the season, while the Pilots improve to 1-2. The two teams were in a close battle throughout the first half, with four ties and 12 lead changes in the period, before a basket by Portland's Alexis Gannis just before the intermission gave the Pilots a 33-32 advantage. Portland went on a run at the beginning of the second half, extending its lead to 21 points with just under eight and a half minutes to play. However, Air Force responded with a scoring spurt of its own, sparked by hot three-point shooting from Beck, who knocked down three field goals from beyond the arc, within a span of less than a minute. The Falcons managed to cut their deficit down to five points with under two minutes in the game, but the Pilots iced the game from the free throw line. Beck, who tallied a season-high six three-pointers, finished as the Falcons' high scorer and rebounder for the fourth time in as many games this season. Also scoring in double digits for Air Force was senior forward Kathleen Schjodt with 11 points, while sophomore guard Anna Gault dished out a game-high nine assists. Portland, which scored 12 three-point field goals in the contest, had four players reach double figures in scoring, led by Natalie Day with 19 points.
Beck Off To Strong Start
Junior guard Raimee Beck is off to a strong start so far in 2009-10. Beck, who has led Air Force in scoring and rebounding in every game this year, is the leading scorer in the MWC with 19.0 points per game. She amongst the MWC top 10 in several categories.
Freshmen Make Immediate Impact
Four Falcon freshmen are already already making immediate impacts for the Falcons. Three of Air Force's top five scorers are freshmen. Rookies Alicia Leipprandt, Katie Hilbig and Dymond James, rank third-through-fifth in scoring for the Falcons.
Falcons Picked To Finish Ninth In MWC
In the preseason conference poll released in October, Air Force was chosen by the coaches and select media to finish ninth in the Mountain West.
Three Regular Season Games on TV
Three Air Force women's basketball regular season games will be televised. All three games will be televised on the Mountain West Sports Network (Mtn.). Air Force could also have games televised at the MWC Championships.
Air Force To Broadcast Eight Regular Season Games
At least nine Air Force women's basketball games will be broadcast for the 2009-10 season. Eight regular season contests, including two road games, and all Mountain West Conference Tournament games will be broadcast online and locally in Colorado Springs on 1300 AM.
Team Captains
Senior Kathleen Schjodt and junior Raimee Beck have been named team co-captains for the 2009-10 season. Schjodt is a three-year letterwinner at forward. Beck is a two-year letterwinner and returning starter at guard.
Six Letterwinners and Three Starters Return
Six letterwinners and three starters return for the Falcons. Juniors Raimee Beck and Liz Dunsworth and sophomore Anna Gault are Air Forces returning starters. Senior Kathleen Schjodt, junior Candice Chase and sophomore Jamela Satterfield round out the other returners. In addition, sophomore Kira Gonzalez, who did not play in any game as a freshman, also returns.
