Caroline Kurtz Named to Academic All-District Team

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force volleyball junior Caroline Kurtz (Albuquerque, N.M.) was named to the ESPN The Magazine University Division Academic All-District VII second-team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced today (Nov. 5). It is the third straight year that an Air Force player has earned all-district distinction.
Holding a 3.85 grade-point-average the biology major is the sixth Air Force volleyball player to earn academic all-district honors from CoSIDA. She joins Katherine Dehne (1999), Laura Terry (1999), Delavane Diaz (2003), Kim Kallabis (2007) and Nichole Stilwell (2008) as the program's recipients of this honor.
Kurtz is an outside hitter, who has started every match this season, currently leads the team with 3.10 kills per set (251 total kills).That average is ranked 6th in the Mountain West Conference. She also leads the Falcons with 25 service aces and a per-set average (0.32) that is ranked fourth in the league. She is a two-time academic all-conference selection.
To be nominated for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher. Team members are then selected by a vote of the members of CoSIDA within the district. District 7 includes Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming, as well as Alberta and Saskatchewan.
