USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Senior Jake Schonig, a co-captain of the Air Force men's gymnastics team and fall Wing Commander, will be featured on The Mtn - MountainWest Sports Network, as a part of the channel's "A Day in the Life" program which debuts tonight (Feb. 9).
The episode, filmed last November, follows Schonig through a day at the Academy, including academic classes and gymnastics practice, as well as meetings and briefings associated with the duties of being the Cadet Wing Commander - the highest leadership role attainable by a cadet. A two-time USAG All-American, Schonig was just the 20th Air Force athlete to receive the title of wing commander.
Schonig is the second Air Force gymnast to be featured on "A Day in the Life", as Brennan Wolford was showcased completing his summer parachute course.
The 30-minute program debuts tonight at 7 p.m., and will re-air numerous times throughout the week and beyond. Check your local listings. The Mtn. is available on Comcast (channel 167 in Colorado Springs) and DirecTV (channel 616, nationally).
