Falcons in Seventh Place at Desert Shootout

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Following two rounds of action, the Air Force golf team sits in seventh place at the Desert Shootout, hosted by Denver at the par-72, 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Course. The Falcons fired a 290 on Friday to bring their two-round total to 568 (-8).
Junior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) continues to lead the Falcons, sitting in first place in the individual standings after two rounds with a score of 133. Whitney, who shot a school-record 64 on the opening day of competition, fired a 69 in round two and remains a stroke ahead of Coastal Carolina's Sam Lyons.
Next in the individual standings for Air Force are Shaun O'Bryant (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Kyle Bailey (So., Austin, Texas), both tied for 46th place at 145 (+1). Andrew Gibson (Sr., San Ramon, Calif.) sits a stroke behind in a tie for 54th place, while Robert Belz (Fr., San Antonio, Texas) is tied for 56th place with a two-round total of 147.
In addition, two other Falcons are competing as individuals. Freshman Caleb Leestma (Seabrook, Texas) moved into a tie for 69th place with a two-round score of 151, while Travis Deckert (Fr., Wichita, Kan.) is in a tie for 89th place at 156.
Host Denver remains atop the team leaderboard, with a two-round total of 548, while Coastal Carolina and Tulsa are in second and third place, respectively.
The final round of the Desert Shootout is set to begin tomorrow morning.
