Falcons Travel to Four Meets This Weekend

The Air Force track and field team will look to "divide and conquer" this weekend (April 23-25), as the squad competes in four separate events. The majority of the team will stay close to home, as they head to the Glenn Morris Multis (April 23-24) and Jack Christiansen Invitational (April 25) in Fort Collins. A handful of Falcons will travel to the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in California, while the 4x1600-meter relay team will compete at the prestigious Drake Relays in Iowa.
MEET INFORMATION (GLENN MORRIS MULTIS)
A pair of Falcons will compete at the Glenn Morris Multis, a two-day event which begins on Thursday, April 23, in Fort Collins, Colo. Thursday's heptathlon begins at 10 a.m., while the decathlon will commence at 10:30 a.m. The sides will swap starting time slots on Friday.
MEET INFORMATION (BRUTUS HAMILTON INVITATIONAL)
Air Force will send 16 athletes to California's Brutus Hamilton Invitational on April 24-25. Friday's field events begin at 11 a.m., while the first track event will start at 4 p.m. Saturday's action is slated to start at 10 a.m., while the running events will begin at noon.
MEET INFORMATION (DRAKE RELAYS)
Only the 4x1600-meter relay team will be traveling to the 100th running of the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. The quartet will compete at 12:15 p.m. (CST) on Friday, April 24.
MEET INFORMATION (JACK CHRISTIANSEN INVITATIONAL)
The majority of the Falcons will head to Fort Collins, Colo., for the annual Jack Christiansen Invitational. The hammer throw will be contested Friday at approximately 2 p.m., while the women's discus and 3000-meter steeplechase will officially kick off the meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
DUO WRAPS UP ACTION AT CALIFORNIA MULTI-MEET
Senior Skylar Morgan placed ninth in the decathlon at the California Invitational Multi-Meet (April 15-16), while junior Danielle McCarty finished 19th in the heptathlon. Highlighted by a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, Morgan tallied 6,245 points to place ninth in the 29-member competition. McCarty tallied 4,302 points to finish within the top-half of the heptathlon field. Her best event finish came in the 800-meter race, as she placed eighth.
MOVING ON UP
Clocking a career-best time of 9:08.59 in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 16, junior Zach Nordahl moved into ninth on the Academy's all-time list. Seniors Scott Balcao and Parker Cowles made a mark on the program's 10K record book that night. Balcao (30:28.13) and Cowles (30:31.19) moved into eighth and 10th, respectively.
Justin Tyner PACES FALCONS ON DAY TWO OF MT SAC
Sophomore Justin Tyner won the 5000-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 17. Clocking a time of 14:11.37 - the ninth-fastest time in program history - Tyner took first in the 47-runner event. Senior Kellen Curry was the top collegiate finisher in the 200-meter dash (third overall) at 21.28, while junior Sara Neubauer took second in both the shot put (48'10") and discus throw (168'10").
HE'S NOT DONE YET
On April 18, Kellen Curry added a runner-up finish in the 110-meter hurdles to his weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays. Curry clocked a time of 14.36 to take second in the "Olympic Development" section.
Kimber Shealy WINS POLE VAULT WITH PERSONAL-BEST CLEARANCE
Freshman Kimber Shealy cleared the second-highest mark in Academy history (12'7½") to win the pole vault at the Beach Invitational on April 18. The regional qualifying clearance is tied with sophomore Rachel Simmons for second on the all-time list.
WHITE IT OUT
Sophomore Nercressaine White improved her standing on the program's all-time list in a pair of events. She moved into fifth in the 200-meter dash (25.45), while clocking a time of 12.41 in the 100-meter dash to move into eighth all-time.
IT'S NOTHING NEW FOR NEUBAUER
Junior Sara Neubauer continued to finish amongst the top of the field in her events at the Beach Invitational, picking up three top-10 placements. Her outing was highlighted by fifth-place finishes in the shot put and discus throw, while she also recorded a ninth-place toss in the hammer throw.
FRESH FACES PACE THE MEN'S TEAM
Freshman Bryce Bergman, sophomore Matthew Jones and classmate Matt Davis paced the men's team at the Beach Invitational. The each accounted for individual top-10 finishes, while running a leg of the third-place 4x400-meter relay with sophomore Tyler Stanley. Jones captured the team's best finish, as he took third in the 400-meter hurdles, while Bergman earned high finishes in the 110-meter (eighth) and 400-meter (ninth) hurdles. Davis posted an eighth-place mark in the 100-meter dash.
